Cappadocia Area Tourism Investors Association (KAPYAD) has been established by a group of tourism investors, who are all leaders in their respective fields, operating in Cappadocia, which spans an area with borders defined in the Cappadocia Area Law No. 7174.
KAPYAD brings together leading investors, including operators of hotels, hot air balloon firms, restaurants, carpet stores, pottery ateliers and vineyards as some of the key drivers of tourism in Cappadocia, around a shared vision and mission for the first time.
KAPYAD, led by its president Omer TOSUN, Chairman of Indigo Group and Honorary Consul of Brazil, convened its first meeting at Museum Hotel in Uçhisar. All the members later visited Nevsehir Governor Mrs. İnci Sezer Becel and Cappadocia Area President Mr. Birol INCECIKOZ in their offices to introduce the Association and discuss its activities.
KAPYAD President Omer TOSUN expressed his pleasure about bringing together the leading tourism investors in Cappadocia around the same cause: “The primary objective of our Association is to elevate the position of ‘Cappadocia’ brand in the national and international arena and to improve its competitiveness. For this purpose, the Association aims to partner with public institutions, starting with the Cappadocia Area Presidency, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Türkiye Tourism Promotion and Development Agency (TGA) as well as local administrations, academic institutions, non-governmental organizations and research institutions and work in collaboration to build on the value of Cappadocia as a brand, offer solutions for the challenges faced by the tourism investors in the region, increase the number of high quality tourism investments that create added value, and formulate policies for sustainable development in the region.” Omer TOSUN added, “We hope for our Association, founded by the leading tourism investors of the region, to play a key role in protecting, promoting and properly planning Cappadocia.”
Governor Becel said, “I am delighted that such an association has been established to fill an important role that the Cappadocia region needs. The fact that leading tourism investors have come together to represent the will of diverse parties will certainly serve the interests of this region.”
Cappadocia Area President INCECIKOZ noted that the establishment of KAPYAD would be a valuable addition to the Cappadocia region, adding that the Cappadocia Area Presidency would collaborate with KAPYAD on many issues, starting with the upper scale planning work.
Bülent Akarcalı, former Minister of Tourism and owner of the Taşkonaklar Hotel in Uçhisar, who was elected Chairman of KAPYAD High Advisory Board, said, “I want to thank Omer TOSUN for bringing together this esteemed group of tourism investors. KAPYAD will play a key role that Cappadocia tourism has long needed. I am confident that we will deliver important results with the support of our fellow members.”
